Customer Relationship Management (CRM) plays a critical role in how Mercedes-Benz USA connects with customers throughout their ownership journey. As the CRM lead for tier 1 national sales campaigns, I partner with strategy, creative, and development teams to bring national marketing initiatives to life across email and in-app messaging that seamlessly blend across digital channels.
As consumer expectations continue to evolve, CRM is becoming less about mass communications and more about delivering personalized experiences at scale. My focus in 2026 was building the capabilities needed to make customer engagement more relevant, efficient, and connected. Through investments in personalization, AI, automation, and speed-to-market initiatives, I helped lay the foundation for a more agile CRM program that can adapt to changing customer expectations while supporting business growth and brand consideration.
Here is a deeper look into my key focus areas:
As personalization increases, so does operational complexity. In 2026, I helped drive the evolution of our CRM operating model with a focus on speed-to-market, efficiency, and scalability. We transitioned from traditional custom-built emails to a modular framework powered by reusable components, allowing campaigns to be assembled and personalized faster. In parallel, we integrated website APIs to dynamically populate monthly sales offers and legal disclaimers, reducing manual effort and saving hours of creative and development time for every campaign and always-on journey.
Personalization is no longer a differentiator; it is an expectation. Today’s consumers expect communications that feel relevant to their interests and purchase journey. For Mercedes-Benz, this includes tailoring vehicle imagery, messaging, offers, and content based on factors such as vehicle affinity, ownership status, geographic location, and engagement history. We partnered closely with the Personalization Marketing team to expand the use of dynamic content across our CRM campaigns, while investing in emerging marketing technologies that enable greater personalization, automation, and scalability.
AI is rapidly changing how customers discover, consume, and engage with content. As email service providers increasingly leverage AI to summarize, filter, and prioritize communications, CRM programs must adapt accordingly. My focus was on preparing our CRM ecosystem for this shift through AI-optimized messaging to ensure our campaigns actually reach the consumer’s inbox. One example includes more urgent, time-bound email subject lines to support inbox and AI summary placement. Beyond the content strategy, we’ve also been challenged to rethink traditional success metrics. As open and click-through rates become less reliable, we're shifting our focus toward downstream business outcomes, including digitally triggered offline sales.
CRM is evolving from a campaign execution function into a strategic business capability. By combining personalization, automation, AI, and operational transformation, my goal was to help Mercedes-Benz USA build a CRM program that is more agile, scalable, and relevant to the modern luxury consumer, while continuing to support our national sales and customer engagement objectives.
For visual reference, below is a snapshot of what a typical national sales campaign includes. CRM executes a combination of multi-touch email campaigns, in-app inbox messaging, social engagement confirmation emails, and always-on content deployed across multiple customer journeys.
