In May 2024, I was invited to guest star in the "First Look" video to introduce the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E450. For this series, Mercedes-Benz USA employees are selected to embody a potential customer for a full vehicle walkaround alongside the Product Manager. As the host, I was tasked with asking a lot of questions to understand how the vehicle can seamlessly integrate into my daily routine. The request was a relaxed tone, while clearly presenting key product enhancements in a conversational manner - setting this apart from a formal "how-to" video. This was purely adlibbed - no teleprompter or script (aside from the opening monologue). The final product was shared in September 2024 with customers, dealers, employees, and automotive enthusiasts via Mercedes-Benz USA social media channels and newsletters, garnering more than 9,000+ views.
While this was a giant leap from my day-to-day job responsibilities, it was just a slight step outside of my comfort zone. I honed the public speaking skills I've practiced for more than a decade leading thousands of fitness classes. While the content was new, I chose to lead confidently, despite having zero formal acting training.
The E-Class was later named the 2024 MotorTrend Car of the Year - a coveted accolade in the automotive industry. My inaugural acting gig has zero bearing on these award qualifications, but a girl can dream this made an impact on the judging panel. 😉
